Simone is staying with us for awhile as Megan is in Pittsburg at a ceramics convention. While she is out of town, Grandma Elise and Grandpa Chris took her in to be spayed. To our surprise, she came back home with a baffle around her neck to prevent her from licking her stitches. She really hates it! Poor Kitty. I think we actually might have put it on backwards for this picture. But regardless, this issue is pretty much moot because her neck is so skinny she can slip right out of it no matter what direction we put it on her anyway. This Weird Friday object apparently wasn’t as weird as I thought as it was an easy guess for both Margaret and Jessica.

Actually, I thought it just LOOKED like one. I didn’t know it really WAS one! I think I better stop guessing so early on in the game. I ruled it out because I didn’t know they had big snaps on them- I would think the noise of the snaps would freak out the cat! Wouldn’t velcro be a better choice?

Yeah, think of the reception that cat can get! That parabolic collar will really bring the sounds right in for those cat ears!

To Margaret: I do think velcro would have been a smarter and kinder design choice. To me this baffle thing is a form of kitten torture. We have totally given up on it at this point.
To Ben: My Ben has been drawing me diagrams of how parabolas affect light and sound. He is home for the weekend. I think I kinda sorta get it. It’s like a kitten megaphone?

So when she meows for dinner, can you here it in Parma?

She doesn’t have to be wearing it for us to hear her in Parma. She may be small but she has the loudest meow in the house!

I didn’t really think it was a pet collar because I thought they only made them for dogs but it only makes sense that they would be for cats too. Poor baby…. I hope she doesn’t have to wear it very long.

Yeah, the collar would help amplify the MEOW and help her hear stuff as well. But even so, I’m guessing she wants the thing off ASAP.
