Blooming Chives

I Love Chives

Chives are one of the easiest perennial herb plants to put in a garden.   They come back year after year without any pampering from the gardener.  Their mild onion flavor is especially tasty when you use little snippits on top of the sour cream that tops a baked potato.

As you can see, The flower that blooms looks like a small lavender pom pom.   Be sure to cut away some of the flowers every now and then, if you want a tender supply of chives handy through out the summer.

Did you know that chives should be planted near rose bushes because their odor discourages aphids?
