Hydrangea
Pink or blue?
The flowers of this Hydrangea bush were blue three years ago, when I first bought it.
They have all turned pink because my soil is too alkaline. I have been feeding it a special fertilizer to turn the blooms back to blue, but as of yet I have had no luck .
When it first blooms, the flower is pale pink and green, It becomes a brighter more vibrant pink as it matures.

I didn’t know that soil condition made such a difference. Very interesting.

We planted one last year and used that stuff that adds acid to the soil. It seemed to work, it stayed blue. It’s pretty in pink!

I didn’t know soil affects flower color. Sorta like testing pH by turning those strips different colors?

Hydrangeas are the only flowers I know of that change color depending on soil ph. Some people keep their hydrangeas potted because it is easier to control the soil ph level that way.
