New Curtains
New curtains for new windows
In an attempt to be more energy efficient, we insulated our kitchen and replaced the old drafty windows. In past years, our kitchen was always the coldest room of the house .
So, I decided that new windows deserved new curtains. I found these on the internet, and they were not very expensive. The long panels were $12 a piece and the two valances over the sink were $6 a piece. By the way, Rikki approves!

That looks nice - it’s amazing what a difference in temp newer windows can make these days…

This is totally off topic, but every time you mention your cat’s name my brain starts playing Steely Dan’s “Rikki Don’t Lose That Number”, which is ok because I really like that song.

I love the way Rikki is posing my the curtains. It’s like he’s proud of them. Even though we’ve never meet I feel like I know Rikki. And I love the curtains.

Nice curtains. I like it with the pine framing over the sink.
Unlike Ben, I think of a mongoose and a cobra when you mention Rikki. Where DID you get the name?

This is how Rikki got his name. Ben and Megan have a good friend named Justin, who lived across the street. Ben and Justin are sharing an apartment these days. After our cat Kit died, (she was 18 years old) Justin’s girl friend Mary picked out a kitten for me from a new litter born at a horse farm in the area. When I went to pick up my new kitten, There were two kittens left and there was a little girl there, who had named both remaining kittens Lucy and Rikki. She took Lucy and I promised her that I would keep the name name of RIkki. So, somewhere out there, Rikki has a sister named Lucy.
Sometimes when we are looking for him we yell “Rikki Ricardo, where are you?”

Hope you are nice and warm this winter with those windows and you see the heat bill lower too.
The curtains look great!
Great story on the Rikki name.
We had a dog named Lucy….she was a stray and lucky she landed in out yard, but we didn’t like lucky for a name, so we called her Lucy. My son was little at the time and always said I love Lucy; but knowing nothing about that show. As a joke, my husband would come home and say “honey, I’m home”.
