Bad Karma thursday
Bad Carma Thursday
Last Thursday we had a bit of car trouble. I took my mother-in-law to a doctor’s appointment, and we ended up using their valet parking, so she wouldn’t have far to walk. When we were all done and the car was brought around, the driver told me there was a little problem. He had dented my car!
He then proceded to tell me that it could be easily fixed by me with the use of a plunger. Um - no. Anyway, the estimate to get this fixed (on their insurance) is $750. The man that gave me the estimate pointed out a black oval, in the middle of the dent. It would appear that the guy that had dented my car, had tried that plunger trick himself, before he handed me back the car.
But that was not the end of our troubles. My daughter Megan came home for a visit that evening. She was about to leave when she said: “By the way dad, why did you change my licence plate?” He did not change her licence plate! So, after looking at her car and discovering that some nefarious person had switched her back licence plate with a different one, we called the police. Yikes.

Wow… I wonder if that valet driver kept his job. I hope this Thursday was better for you all!

That is a riot! He must bang up a lot of cars if he had a plunger handy.
And wow! I will look at my license plate everytime I get in my car now. geez!!!!

Yikes is right. Hope you can get the license plate thing straightened out.
We had a bad carma Monday. Same dent, different spot. Luckily, we saw the lady hit the car. I truly wonder if she would have owned up to it, if we hadn’t seen her out the window of the restaurant we were in.
Hope you get it fixed up soon. We got ours back today.

Must be the month for car problems. A middle aged lady (translation: someone who is old enough to know better) hit Katie when she was coming back from voting. She had a witness, thank goodness, because the lady told her insurance co. that Katie was making an illegal U-turn in the middle of the busy 2-way road! A complete lie! The witness that backed Katie up worked for the county-in the traffic division! Thank goodness for witnesses.
Sorry to hear about your car. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone was trustworthy? Sigh….
Tell Megan what I told Katie. Chalk it up to a learning experience in the real world.

Jessica- I wonder if he did get to keep his job, because I told his superviser what he said.
Jen- Remember your blog last Thursday, when you said be careful because it was a full moon? you were right!
Dee- Yes, Meg now has brand new licence plates. How lucky that you saw that lady hit your Car, I’m glad you had such a good out come. We are still waiting on a check from that hospital’s insurance.
Margaret - I agree with you about the important lessons about the world for our children. I’m glad Katie is OK.

I don’t even want to talk about cars and dents and stuff. Linda made a small dent in another car (and I am not sure it was her fault) and the bill went to $750 - which is the magic number for triggering an increase in insurance rates. Maybe that’s why bills run $750…
Anyhow humorous choice of appropriate music with the Radiohead…

Ben: This same car actually has another dent, that my daughter made. I didn’t get it fixed because of what you said about triggering an increased rate. Also, our deductable is $500, so I would have paid for most of it anyway. This one is being fixed because it was their fault. Glad you liked the music!
