Blue Jay

Blue Jay

This beautiful but noisy jay has been visiting lately.

I love this picture of his back.   The pattern of his feathers reminds me of a lovely mosaic.

I have been luring this Blue Jay up to the feeders by my window.   I took one one the suet cakes, formulated with red berries and cut it up in fourths, then I placed pieces of it on the bunch of kindling sticks at the top of the wood Pile, that is stacked on my front porch.   It worked, although he did fly back to the trees to eat it!

  2. I just noticed… if you look to the right edge of that first photo there is a downy hanging around!

  3. I love the “mosaic” picture, and also the last one. The stark red berry against the blue…and he looks like he is wearing a black arrow pointing down in the last one! Very nice pictures!

  4. These are great!!
I don’t know that I’ve ever seen the back of a blue jay.
Thanks or pointing it out—it’s very artistic looking.
    Great lure job too.

  5. Great picture. I love the one with the berry in his beak.

Regarding you comment on my blog:

Steve figured a laptop was probably cheaper than alimony. LOL No, not really — but we like to kid about it.

I think he likes having the office all to himself. He’s a lefty and now he can have things just like he wants and no one moves them to the other side. ;-) I still have to use his computer when I want to print something. When our printer dies, I would like a wireless printer.

  6. Nice jay shot. I always like it when the blue jays show up (they always make it obvious when they show up, too - usually a dramatic entrance). I’ll have to experiment with a suet cake and see what happens!
