Well, we’ve only had suet cakes out there for, Oh, I don’t know, 20 YEARS!!! And no pileateds! My hat is off to you. Good “catch”!

Pigeon - EXCELLENT photos of the pileated! I am so envious!! I just purchased some oversized suet blocks and my pileated couple seems to like that. I just need them to stay still for a photo.

WOW… I’m coming to your house. Do you know how lucky you are to have such a bird in your yard? Like I said before, I am so envious! I’m glad the suet trick worked. I’m amazed at how fast it attracted him. That is a male Pileated because he has a red mustache.. the females lack the red mustache. He’s beautiful!!!! And Dee is correct… Woody Woodpecker was created from the likeness of a Pileated. Thanks for sharing these photos. Love em…
