Little sparrow

Little sparrow

       I have been visited by many of these little sparrows over the course of the winter.

       The dark dot in the middle of this sparrow’s breast is a marking of the American Tree Sparrow

       These little birds winter here with us, then migrate northward, just south of the tundra, into Canada every Spring.

       Sparrrows are seed eaters, and actually prefer the habitat of brush over trees, for building their nests.

  3. So birds do go south for the winter.
    There seems to be many types of sparrows;
    you must have a sharp eye to tell the difference
    between them all.

  4. Actually Jen, I bought a couple bird books with great pictures and descriptions, and it was the dark spot on the sparrow’s breast that helped me to id it.
