Doves

This Mourning Dove greeted me early today outside my window.

And not too long after that, a second one joined him.

Here is one of them, eyes almost closed, or did I catch a slow blink? Did you know that Mourning Doves are members of the Pigeon family? Do you think I should change the name of my blog to doveshavepants? But then I would have to change the name of my cat Pigeon - never mind.
Pileated Woodpecker up close

Jessica suggested that I could attract the Pileated Woodpeckers in my yard to a suet feeder and she was right.

This feeder is about ten feet from my great room picture window. That’s a lot closer than the woods, where I took his picture from last time.
Blue Jay

This beautiful but noisy jay has been visiting lately.

I love this picture of his back. The pattern of his feathers reminds me of a lovely mosaic.

I have been luring this Blue Jay up to the feeders by my window. I took one one the suet cakes, formulated with red berries and cut it up in fourths, then I placed pieces of it on the bunch of kindling sticks at the top of the wood Pile, that is stacked on my front porch. It worked, although he did fly back to the trees to eat it!
Weird Dress up

Megan was three months old when we brought home two new kittens who were sisters. We named them Kit and Fiver. Megan loved to dress Kit up, and Kit was very accommodating.
