Our big trees are close to our house also---so those woodpeckers do get close. I had a Pileated at my suet feeder on my deck once. At least I only saw him ONCE. Sorry Rikki lost a friend. I'm sure Rikki's very sad these days!!!! But--bird watching is special even though Rikki can't have a bite or two...Ha Have a wonderful day.
