Weird Nest Friday

I found this nest in one of my tallest trees, in the back woods. “It’s so huge, what bird would conceivably build a nest like that?” My neighbor Jean had a answer for me. “It’s a squirrel’s nest!” she replied. I would have never guessed that.

:::clapping hands::: I KNEW that one. LOL
In answer to your question on my blog:
Yes, that is a real flower. It is from the Silk Floss Tree. It’s a very large, waxy looking flower. They are way up high so I don’t know whether they have a fragrance and, for obvious reasons, I’m not going to climb up there and find out.
Happy weekend.

That’s more like a squirrel apartment house or squirrel compound or something!

Maybe I should charge him rent?

I agree with Ben. Looks like a squirrel condo building!! There’s a squirrel’s nest in a neighbors tree but it is nothing compared to that.

He must have a Big family.
Yes those nests are usually very high up. We have them too
and I always watch them when the winds are strong, but they stay put.

I knew that answer also, Pigeon… We have them in many of the tall trees around here. You can see the squirrels go up and down the tree collecting lots of nuts to put in the stash!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

We’ve got ‘em too, but not THAT BIG! Looks like he has a spare room for all his stolen suet cages.

Perhaps it has a guest room for when Bullwinkle shows up.
