Yellow Trout Lilly
Yellow Trout Lilly
This pretty wildflower gets it’s name from its mottled leaves, which look a little like the skin of a trout.
Only four to six inches in height, the Trout Lilly prefers to grow in wooded areas, between the months of March and May.
The yellow flowers follow the path of the sun and close for the night.

My co-worker has gotten me into learning more about native wildflowers for our area. This trout lily is really pretty. I’ll have to check with him to see if he has heard of it. I have not.

Never seen that one. Hope it smells better than a trout!

I had never heard of that name, either, although I’ve seen the flower around in the wild. Cool flower.
