Just thought I'd add this..

June 13 ,2010 we have a pair of purple finches building a cute little nest in our asparagus fern. It matches the natural habitat I've been reading about. the asparagus fern is a bit bristly like the coniferous pines, our fern is undercover on a porch hanging up high. We're Ohio. I am now watering only from the front of the planter since the nest is in the back. Momma flys away when I water but comes right back when I go inside. Can't wait to see the little ones!

One of the things I love about spring is seeing birds as couples which you don't often see the rest of the year.

At work we have a hanging asparagus fern with a Finch nest in it. There are 6 tiny eggs in it. We have seen the couple hanging out lots. We also have a Robin's nest with 3 babies in it. They have grown much so it won't be long til they leave the nest.

I have many many huge pine trees, and lots of purple finches on my feeders. Guess that's why. They seem to get along with the goldfinches just fine though.

We don't have Purples here (I don't think), Elise, but we do have House Finches. Recently there have been lots of little ones at our feeder. They just squeak!!!! Too Cute.

Love the photos of our Purple's...

Hugs,
