Weird Half Nest Friday

During the winter, I store four of these chair pads wrapped individually in black plastic garbage bags up in my attic. I took them out a couple months ago, but I guess I didn’t look them over very carefully.

Megan noticed this half nest the other day, it looks abandoned and old. I wonder how the wasps got into closed the plastic bag?
Wildlife in the front yard

I have been looking for a thistle sock for a while and I finally found one for $3 at the home depot. It didn’t take long for this Gold Finch to find it.

This rabbit photo was hard to take because he would not sit still for me. It’s a bit blurry.

I am happy to report that all the baby squirrels are doing well. They let me get pretty close, though, I still need to use my zoom lens. Thankfully, they do run away when they see Pigeon the cat coming.

And just who is watching who here?
* A note to all my contest winners: I mailed your prizes out to you yesterday! ☺

Caption Contest Winners!

“Then why do they call them Bird Feeders?”
I would like to thank everyone who particpated in my caption contest. I had four entries for consideration, and I decided to give out four prizes. The first prize winner is Jen. Her clever caption is displayed underneath the photo. First runner up is Jessica, second is Patty and third is Cliff! I will be emailing all of you in order, so you can chose your prize.

Here again is the picture of the choices for the winners.
Weird Painting Friday

This “painting” was displayed in the same room as Megan’s BFA show at her school. I initially thought it was a sculpture, but Megan informed me that it was the BFA of a painting major, therefore it is a painting. Do you see the little box like opening? Inside is a tape recording that loops over and over. It is of air raid sirens and an angry mom, calling her son Anthony to “Get on over here!!!”
* Don’t forget to participate in my caption contest. Scroll down to yesterday’s post and leave me a caption in the comment section.
Another Caption Contest

There are baby squirrels living in a tree, in my front yard. The one kinda looks like he’s whispering something to the other, but what’s being said here? You have until Saturday at midnight to comment a caption, and I will post the winner on Monday. First prize will be decided jointly by the family. 2nd and 3rd prize will be a random draw.

And now for the prizes: In honor of my daughter the artist and recent college graduate, I will purchase three of these pieces from her to give out as prizes. The first place winner will have first pick, and so on and so forth.
Starting at the back left, we have a small green and white pot, a mug with a girl’s face and a plain brown mug. The front row has two small plates. A yellow and blue plate with a bird design and one of a girl with apples.
Good Luck!
Megan is now a college graduate!

On Saturday, my daughter Megan graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art, with a Bachelor’s Degree of Fine Arts in ceramics.

This is a picture of Megan and her roommate Lexi, who also received a degree in ceramics.

Now I have two grown up children with college degrees. Congratulations Megan! Your family is very proud of you!
I love Netflix

If you were to ask me to list some of my favortie things, Netflix would rank very high on the list. I have always loved movies and to be truthful, I am more of a gourmand than a gourmet. This means that I enjoy the really bads ones too! Above is a sample of my high ratings for the thriller genre. You do have to click on this to read the list more clearly.

Here is a funny story for you: Chris’ mom wanted netflix but doesn’t own a computer. So I changed my account to get an extra movie for her to choose. She did have trouble getting it to play, as she was not used to operating the DVD player, but I was able to talk her through it. After watching the movie, she called back with another question. She asked me - “What button should I push to rewind the DVD???”
