The walk

On election day, I went with my good friend and neighbor Jean to vote.   When we had finished casting our ballots, we went for a walk.   I will refer you HERE for a picture of Jean and more information on the location of our walk.

Orchard Hills used to be a pampered golf course.   It’s in the process of going back to nature.   These tall grasses were not here back in the day.

This apple orchard is still part of Patterson’s fruit farm.

You can actually see a speck of the white building in the middle of the picture, (behind the bright orange tree) which is the fruit farm.

The trees were close to peaking that day, It was a beautiful day for a long walk.

The Clam Bake

Every year, Sperry Road has an annual clam bake.   This is the road my husband lived on, when he was growing up.   His mom still lives there.   We have attended this clam bake together every year since the late 1970’s, although Chris remembers going to it as a young child in the 1960’s.   It takes place across the street from his mom’s house on a piece of land that is rented out to The Geauga Bowmen Archery Club, and the property is owned by the family that lives next to the archery range.

This picture was taken at a weird angle by my son Ben, who I think was trying to be artistic.   The back of the head to the left is my husband Chris, That’s me in the middle, and on the right is sombody who I’m not going to name because I want Margaret to guess who it is!   By the way Margaret, he says hi to you and Miles & suggested that I use his photo for weird object friday, but I decided that I didn’t want to wait that long!

Here is another photo of our mystery man, along with Chris.   These two have been friends for 50 years!   Click HERE Margaret for another clue, but I know you don’t really need it.

Venice Beach

This is a photo of my good friend Julie. We have been friends since we were in the 7th grade.  On sunday, we started our whirlwind tour with a trip to Venice Beach. It was my favorite stop.
Venice Beach was created to be a copy of venice Italy and the 16 miles of man made canals were originally dug in 1904.
This is a picture of a typical residential street.  The average home price last year was $857,500.   Wow, that is a lot of money.  Especially when you consider that many of these homes are not very big!
Here we are on Venice Beach!

Orchard Hills Park

I used to take this walk with my friend Jean about once a week.   Even in winter, we would brave the weather and go walking.  Unfortunately, It’s gotten more difficult to find the time since I started working again.   Today we went for our walk to Patterson’s Fruit Farm and Orchard Hills Park. It takes about 20 minutes, (mostly uphill) to get there.   Orchard Hills used to be a golf course which was owned by the Patterson family.   They recently gifted it to the Geauga Park District, which I think is quite wonderful.   Click HERE for more information on Orchard Hills Park. Also, it is interesting to note that straight ahead, in these pictures is Lake Erie!
